Bourtzi was a castle founded by the Gizi brothers who captured Skiathos in 1207. Around Bourtzi Castle were loopholes and two towers, from the left and right of the gate. Inside the castle there was a church dedicated to Saint George. Bourtzi was destroyed in 1660 when Morosini took it. Today all that remains of the past are some remains and the places where the church of St. George was located. Today Bourtzi is a wonderful, luscious place to walk.
